photoLargeA former professor and administrator at Columbia University, Dr. Barrett has exceptional educational experience in the areas of English Education, College Admissions, and Career Counseling. She is a nationally recognized educational consultant committed to helping students of all backgrounds reach their potential. Her career in college admissions for Columbia University gives her a unique perspective on the admissions process at both regional and national levels. Dr. Barrett can provide the expert guidance needed in improving test scores, developing a list of target colleges, managing applications, writing college and scholarship essays, researching scholarship and financial aid resources, and preparing for college and career interviews.

Candace Fears

Director of 5 Points Prep

photoLargeCandace Fears is the Director of 5 Points Prep. She was the STAR student of her high school (highest SAT score). She graduated from New York University in 2006 and taught high school in Brooklyn for six years during the day, while teaching SAT and ACT prep at night and on the weekends in Bayside, Queens. She moved back to Georgia in 2012 and taught middle school for six years. She was the Teacher of the Year at PATH Academy in Brookhaven for the 2017-2018 school year. She tutors middle-schoolers in all subjects, ACT/SAT English, ACT/SAT Reading, Voice, Interview Prep, and Public Speaking. Candace’s interests include music and theatre.

Katie Kelly, M.T.

Associate Director and Head of Math and Science

photoLargeKatie Kelly serves as the Associate Director here at 5 Points Prep. Katie teaches SAT/ACT, but she is most passionate about helping students create essays that capture who they are and make them feel proud. She got her Master’s in Teaching from the University of Virginia in 2021, where she also earned her Bachelors in History and Spanish in 2020. She loves tutoring because it allows her to connect with students, help them achieve their goals, and have some fun in the process.


Dr. Michael Ford

Academic Coach

photoLargeMichael Ford, the lead Language Arts tutor at 5 Points Prep, brings his enthusiastic dedication to learning and the written word to every class he teaches. He has completed his doctoral degree in English at the University of Georgia, where he has received awards for his teaching and scholarship.


Colton Carter

Academic Coach
photoLargeColton Carter brings creativity and passion to the classroom as the head tutor for math and science at 5 Points Prep. Born and raised in Oconee county, Colton was a former student at 5 Points Prep. He is a recent graduate of Harvard University where he got a BA in chemistry and music. Colton has experience working with students on a wide variety of subjects: algebra, geometry, precalculus, calculus, general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and biology among others. During the summer, Colton lives in Cambridge, MA as the Head Teaching Fellow for Harvard Summer School’s introductory organic chemistry course. During the academic year, Colton is tutoring with 5PP and taking classes at the University of Georgia. Outside of work and school, Colton studies and works in musical theatre as a music director and conductor.

Ally Driver

Program Director & Academic Coach

photoLargeAlly Driver is a current MPH/Ph.D. student at the University of Georgia’s College of Public Health in the Department of Health Promotion and Behavior where she teaches an undergraduate course on Issues in Women’s Health. Ally tutors ACT & SAT Reading, English and Writing and Language. In addition, she tutors students in American Government, numerous History courses, and English-Language Arts.

Michael Lloyd Bell

photoLargeMichael Bell is currently pursuing his PhD in economics. He has completed his BSc. in mathematics. Michael is an economics and mathematics tutor. He is willing to tutor any related course. He aspires to help you learn and attain your educational goals in the best way he can!

Abby Rose

Academic Coach

photoLargeAbby Rose is a STEM tutor here at 5 Points Prep who supports students in various subjects, including ACT/SAT Math, ACT Science, and Biology. She enjoys curating her lessons to fit her students’ learning styles while striving to make learning a positive and engaging experience. She also has experience working with neurodivergent students, specifically ADHD, Autism, and Dyslexia. Abby is a senior at the University of Georgia, majoring in Microbiology while conducting research in the UGA Comprehensive Molecular Bioengineering Lab.

Dalton Poppell

Academic Coach

photoLargeDalton Poppell is currently a Junior in the Honors program at the University of Georgia, majoring in Computer Systems Engineering. He primarily tutors in areas such as ACT/SAT Math, ACT Science, and computer science. He focuses on using data and results from students’ previous test scores to ensure each student is being taught the areas that are most needed. By doing this, Dalton ensures that the content being taught is best curated to each student’s learning style.
